"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Me thinks it is Ruggles (Carl)

            One of the American Five
Most famous work Sun Treader inspired by Browning's Pauline (good one mercia)
He wrote Toys for his son's 4th birthday and
Michael Tilston Thomas recorded all his works with the Buffalo Philharmonic.

If this is correct I am afraid I cannot set an S until tomorrow evening so someone would do me a great service by taking the baton.

thank you for understanding my silly question Anton
yes indeed Mr Ruggles, not a very nice man if his wikipedia entry is to be believed, though I suppose I shouldn't be too judgemental

Yes - it's all being preserved and is a bit scary. I was looking for an early user group post of mine a couple of days ago and look what I turned up:

                From Caliban
                27th April 2001
                Subject: Re: New Morning Programme

'It is, I suppose, commendable that R3 should devote half its air time to
a demonstration of what R2 could be if it tried.'

(It's also a bit depressing that we've been complaining about such changes for over ten years now. )

I wonder what lessons can be learnt there then

Did I write that?! Where did you find it, Don? The old R3 message boards? Was I Caliban as early as 2001? I don't think so....

I don't even really know what it means...

Research has now shown that it wasn't in fact the Caliban, just a Caliban, so you're exonerated.

(The sentiment seemed fair enough, anyway.)

                        An S then

                        What S connects

                        Moulin Rouge
                        Parfums
                        Carillons

All tip to toe musical not a ball game in sight!
