Absolutely fascinating: a tribute to the informative value of the AA site and of anton's intellect when Lady G allows it a bit of leeway!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Could this mean he holds sway over Mercia?

I have no intellect only Wiki and the Oxford Dictionary of Classical Music (and Lady G of course!); mercia remains my role model and Rumpole my conscience.

I wasn't sure if Caliban was offering a commendation or a coronation.

Simply a compliment and a confirmation of why I enjoy this thread so much

Mercia, is a bit of a hero to me. I sometimes wonder how he connects seemingly unconnectables. And a phone call has established the whisky was Laphroaig. So all's right in the world.

Gladly Don. In fact, if I could, I'd send all you lovely people a crate of it if that meant I didn't have to drink it!
