      It is a useful secondary source.

        An M to link:

        (a) a monastic organist and composer;
        (b) a singer who was married to another singer, now sadly departed this life;
        (c) an American pianist with a KBE.

                    For (b) it is the other singer who is dead.

                    For (c) remember that you are looking for an 'M', so that should reduce your options.

                                One down, two to go.

                                The only organ-playing Michael Murray that I can locate appears to be neither a monk nor a composer.

                                The singer in (b) is still alive (as, I think, was implied by the original question).
