OH, OK then! An 'O' coming up shortly.

Musically, which 'O' links three actors who, in chronological order:
played a famous fictional schoomaster; played an early occupant of a Newtown patrol car; and has often played, and stills plays, a writer who is currently very much in the news. The second and third actors are still with us.

It's strange, I wonder if there was a server problem last night - I looked a few times during the evening, not sure what time but it was after the rugby was cancelled so after you posted that N question - there was nothing visible... Glad things are chugging along well again this morning!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Ah, to be sure, 'tis the luck of the Irish (to get out of Paris without defeat of course!) Not solving the puzzle!

O, are you really being very clever with an O like O'Toole and O'Keefe? Oh, that is very good!!

Off now, rugby calls and early lunch

EDIT - looks like Anna is well ahead of me

No, Anna's way off-beam, I'm afraid. And please note the chronology of the clues, which rules out Mr O'Toole. Z-Cars is definitely a step in the right direction.

Thank goodness for that I can now settle down to rugby and leave the real world behind!

I've got that far but can't find the O' for Z cars

                          1 I believe is O'Toole
                          3 Possibly O'Rourke
