I've been really enjoying Radiolab on Radio 4 Extra on Sunday nights. This week they concentrated on stories round people who had witnessed deaths. I found it a pretty riveting listen, particularly the first story, although the presenters can be a wee bit irritating at times.
Radiolab asks if the last moments of life should be captured, seen and shared?

'Quiz Nite!' is definitely one of Radio 4's better comedy offerings. Episodes 1-3 now on BBC Sounds.

Just started listening - for the 3rd (or is it the 4th?) time to 'Uncle Mort's North Country' on BBC Radio 4 Extra/BBC Sounds.

                Today R4 "I Was Stanley Kubrick's Assistant" https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000937c

Andrew McGibbon meets novelist Anthony Frewin who outed two of Stanley Kubrick's impersonators while working as the legendary director's assistant.

Fascinating reminder of how hidebound were expectations for intelligent youngsters in the 1960's.

Radio 4 The Patch, "Ferryside" 10/09/2019 - avalable on iPlayer (or whatever it's called now): https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0005sxl

The idea of a Radio 4 team descending on a location denoted by a randomly generated post code seems unpromising but this episode is a delicious gem. It starts slow but do stick with it.

'Lines from my Grandfather's Forehead' on 4 extra - Ronnie Barker at his most inventive and funny. Super stuff.

Intrigue: Tunnel 29 on Radio 4 is very good

The extraordinary true story of a man who dug an escape tunnel under the Berlin Wall.

Welcome back to one of Radio 4's better comedy offerings - 'Tom Wrigglesworth's Hang Ups'. Episode 1 was broadcast last night at 1830 hours and is now available, with previous series, on BBC Sounds.
(Might it be a good idea if this thread followed the example of its TV equivalent and was renamed 'Recommended Speech Radio Programmes', thus allowing for the flagging up of forthcoming sound-only delights?)

This is a very good, well-narrated programme about the fate of our southern chalk streams. "Dry me a river" - great title!

Northern English rivers are flooding whilst southern rivers dry up. Tom Heap investigates.
