Respecting other people's views on listening to music, but there's not a tradition of standing for Feldman's Quartet?

I am unaware of one and would most certainly hope not!

I suppose if the Brodsky's or Bozzini's were to take it on then one might develop, at least for six out of eight of them.

Having just watched a programme on BBC 4 about Benjamin Britten, his last string quartet, No. 3. Op. 94. Played by the Takacs Quartet on Hyperion. (A set which I've had unwrap from its cellophane wrapping!)

I really wish I knew this composer's work more throughly.

There have been times when I've started to listen and been unable to see it through.

                        Roger Norrington's Romantic Box

The Elgar cd In the South, Int & Allegro and Enigma Vars. They are very different to any other I have heard, lacking the warmth that I think Elgar needs. Others my disagree with this view. In the South lacks the zip of Silvestri and Collins and Barbirolli are more to my taste in Int & All. I'll listen again to the Norrington and see if I can find anything more to attract!

I'm listening again to this work again. I suspect it'll take time to percolate.
