The Feldman epic quartet. Listening on the train.( this isnwhat iplayer downloads are perfect for).

Other things that take 6 hours.
Cricket. Including meal breaks, dubious betting, and the chance to go for a wander and a natter.

Train from Southampton to Glasgow. Some interesting scenery, potential delays, and much more expensive.

Sales meeting. Worse experience mostly, but more chocolate and numbers, ifyou like either of those,or even if you don't.

Anyway, my thoughts about an hour or so in? I'd likely buy the 5 CD set if available at a sensible price. I can imagine that format working very well for me, for what that is worth.

I suppose that one thing that the work really highlights is how different a listening experience we all have .

And it's amazingly full of beautiful surprises.

Mozart: Die Entführung aus dem Serail, K384; Soloists/AAM Chorus & Orchestra/Hogwood.

Lor'! Isn't the acting in the dialogue of Singspiels tedious?!

this was a nice treat at Waterloo last week, while waiting for my train.

The LPO brass , led by Principal Trombone Mark Templeton, I think.

The Elgar cd In the South, Int & Allegro and Enigma Vars. They are very different to any other I have heard, lacking the warmth that I think Elgar needs. Others my disagree with this view. In the South lacks the zip of Silvestri and Collins and Barbirolli are more to my taste in Int & All. I'll listen again to the Norrington and see if I can find anything more to attract!
This Alassio is the most Strauss like sounding of them all I think and seems a bit long, although I haven't compared timings with others.
Introduction and Allegro is a bit ordinary to my ears.
              The Enigma is super.

Ah, this was last year. Yes indeed, they were impressed by a tuba playing the third trombone part in Schubert's 8th!

Fantastic as always although I do think my Sony machine is running a tad fast raising the pitch a little.

I bought this on the back of my instant enthusiasm for Granberg's How Deep is the Ocean, How High is the Sky last year. This one didn't have quite the immediate impact of that, but it's growing on me nicely.
