Looking forward to the Opera North production in October.
Have you heard the recent Ozawa recording, Pulcinella? Available for less than a fiver on Amazon. Iirc, it scored 97% in Hi-Fi Reviews assessmentof the recording quality. Lovely music making too.

No, but I spotted it when I did a trawl of the Presto site this morning.
Trying hard to discipline myself to listening to what I've got (especially since last week the new shelving arrived, and everything is now on show -- well, in the storage room off the main lounge, which we are calling 'outer space') rather than buying even more!
Thanks for the pointer. I'm tempted!
        But mixed reviews here:
Ravel: L’enfant et les sortileges & Shéhérazade. Decca: 4786760. Buy download online. Isabel Leonard (L'Enfant), Yvonne Naef (Mother, Chinese Cup, Dragonfly), Jean-Paul Fouchécourt (Teapot, Arithmetic and Frog), Elliot Madore (Grandfather Clock/Tomcat), Paul Gay (Armchair/Tree), Anna Christy (Princess, Fire, Nightingale) Saito Kinen Orchestra, Seiji Ozawa

Beethoven Op. 135 Quartet (Belcea Quartet 'live'). I managed to mislay the boxed set of Blu-rays shortly after purchasing them. I uncovered the box a few days ago. Since then I have worked my way through them. What a delightful supplement to their 'studio' recording of the same works.

Morning! A marvellous disc, with Hardenberger and Preston in top form. The music is varied and stimulsting and the Aarhus organ is fab. Well worth hearing IMO.

Rather specialist music, maybe, not for the masses but very worth while checking this out. If only for the artist and as you say, Mahlerei, for the organ.

Gergiev continues to widen his repertoire, Stan. What's your opinion of his recording?

                              Gustav Mahler
                              Symphony no.4.
                              Carolyn Sampson, BBC SSO
                              Donald Runnicles.

it's a pity that Donald Runnicles is no longer with this orchestra as their conductor, because I rather liked the way he improved this orchestra.
