It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

      (there's a clip on youTube where it's sung ... AT A WEDDING!!!)

No. Nor Purcell, either, if I may be so Bold.
Maybe I was DAZzled by your clues!

White Rose is sung by many MV choirs down here - mostly in Cornish in the arrangement by Edward Goldsmith. It is also sung by many informal singing groups in pubs, at weddings (usually being selective on which verses sung), funerals and at local feasts, shows and festivals. A beautiful song when sung well.

You have to do a bit of digging... Chuck 'little mermaid music' into google and Bob's your auntie and Alexander's your uncle...

I admit that an Ovid-Goehr link did pop into my brain unresearched...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

          So we have:

          Alexanders:

          - Scriabin: Vers la flamme

          - Zemlinsky: The little mermaid

          - Goehr: Metamorphosis/Dance Op. 36

          I fank you

Goehr himself wrote a piece called "Vers las Flamme" (it's one of his Deux Etudes for orchestra) and I was originally going to include that as well as the Scriabin - but there's no reference to the work that I could find on 'tInternet

          So, let's B 'avin' yer!

Which B links a whistle, a garden and a hunt, among many other things?

                A hole in one, scb

                Yes - Byrd:

                The carman's whistle

                All in a garden greene

                The hunt's upp

are descriptive pieces among the batells, fancies and pavans in that work for virginals.

And indeed, Booke works too (hadn't thought of that!)

Glad you got that - about to disappear into a subterranean fleshpot in Seven Dials with no ability to get online for a few hours http://thehawksmoor.com/locations/seven-dials/

                Carry on without me, please
