I have to go now. Shall I give an Anna's Law tie-up on the V and award the W to cloughie?

    Valhalla -

Black Sabbath from their album Tyr
As built by aforesaid giants Fasolt and Fafner
Valhalla Rising - "The film takes place in 1000 AD and follows a Norse warrior named One-Eye and a boy named The Boy as they travel with a band of Christian Crusaders in pursuit of a Crusade. Instead, they find themselves in an unknown and unfamiliar land." "The film was shot entirely in Scotland"
    Pacta sunt servanda !!!

After a tooth-drawing effort, I'm awarded the dreaded dubya - thanks Flay, I'll try not to disappoint!

A W linked by a midnight strike, several reconstructions and sound-alike trombones.

Speaking as a trombonist this has me intrigued and stymied in equal measure
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Are we talking something to do with Cinderella?

No, despite the hour being appropriate.

As discussed somewhere on t'Forum not too long ago, the trombone plays the 'Tuba Mirum' solo in Mozart's Wequ... er.. Requiem... - the last trump, sounding like a trombone... Anything to do with that? Can't fit in your 'interesting score' comment which sounded like a hint...

Mozart Req would fit the reconstruction thing too.

I'm wondering about Mussorgsky's Night on a Bald Mountain, with its associations with Walpurgisnicht, and its partial origins in an aborted opera called The Witch.
Midnight Bells - tick; several reconstructions - tick; similar-sounding trombones - err ...
