Well, they all wrote music for Television, but I suspect it's more specific than that...

Of course Josephs wrote the theme music for the First World War TV series, and Carl Davis for the World at War, about WW2...

Well, that's another WW2 docco, Victory at Sea

There is The Valiant Years about Churchill by Rodgers. That's 1965 when Churchill died.

King George died 1952 so that could be The King and I? (probably not!)

You've got them all between you - well done.
Richard Rodgers: Victory At Sea (1952) followed by The Valiant Years (1960). Wilfred Josephs: The Great War (1964); and Carl Davis: The World At War (1973). All TV documentary series dealing with world wars ('tho I'd settle for TV themes or TV documentaries for archival purposes). Over to U, rubbernecker!

Sorry for the delay. A nice, straightforward one, hopefully:

What U connects a comic singer with a stiff legacy, a musician killed by the Nazis, and the schoolteacher in a musical rehash of a plane crash (which bombed)?

              Oooh...

              Ullmann?

Tracey (sang under contract with Stiff Records)
              Victor (died at Auschwitz)
Liv (her musical film "Lost Horizons" crashed and burned in 1973).

And Taps has scored! Route one! What a finish! The crowd are going wild
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Oh Ratz! I was just about the post the very same answer but delayed whilst I sorted out a V !! Well done Taps, lightning speed yet again. Btw, I was lured into the Patisserie today and emerged with a dark Belgian chocolate French Fancy.

                    Oooh... You're good.

                    Full house, Taps.

                    V good.

Your presumptuousness has been your undoing, Anna

Well, yes. Me presumptuousness always gets me in a bit of bovver!! Anyway, I have to go and do something complicated in the kitchen later on today involving pork and black pudding and apples.

Don't mind if I do, Caliban. Cheers!

It'll have to be a quick one though. The solution to "U" was a bit of an opportunist's crime. I shall have to be offline again shortly possibly for the rest of the day. So an easy Veasy V:

This V connects works by Bellini, Rameau and Bernstein.

The V in question is a person.

Not sure we needed that clue...

                              Voltaire?

                              Bellini - Zaira
                              Rameau - a few operas
                              Bernstein - Candide

A whole range of possible comments occurs to me in response to the above, Anna - but none of them fit for publication. Where are Julian and Sandy when you need them!?

All I can say is that I hope you and others will enjoy!!!

EDIT: mention of the dark Belgian fancy has made me all restless....
