strong man got to be Samson I guess
prophetesses we've got a choice, Deborah, Esther, Hannah, Miriam, Rachel, Rebecca, Sarah and more besides
      lots of Kings
      Queen Esther, Queen of Sheba
obviously Handel springs to mind with all these people
can't find any Js yet .......................
EDIT, however with Calorgas's liking for Belshazzar and Handel having done a Belshazzar I think I might make a stab at J = Jennens

        Bravo mercia

Samson, Deborah the Prophetess and Queen Esther are right - as is the Handelian as well as the biblical link....

The King: well, not unrelated to the D question this round.

        You're getting there!!

            is my Jennens wrong?
my EDIT was simultaneous with your post
King David in Messiah and Israel in Egypt, both Jennens scribblings
or perhaps one particular singer appeared in all of these, I wonder ..................................

                          No, not Judges either...

Any more offers? A clue seems in order.

I could have added to the 4 Handelian clues that the "J" also connects to J.S. Bach and Henry Purcell....
