Whenever I look at the stats at the bottom of the home page, there always seem to be 30 - 50 "guests" viewing who are not members - one hopes most will take the plunge and sign up.

I don't suppose anyone knows how many members regularly used the old R3 boards in their heyday... I wonder what the shortfall now is, given that the current membership here is 407.

But don't you wish Smittims would join us?

Very good point. What happened there?

He said he was leaving the internet to do other things. Smittims received many fond farewells on his departure and was left in no doubt that he would be welcome to return. But if he tries, it may appear that there is nowhere to return to.
Incidentally, I've been trying to work out what his nickname was derived from. "Tim S." perhaps?

I don't think that could have been exactly what he said ... unless ...

Are you able to search the old boards then, FF?

One of the things I like about the new boards is the "What's New" option. As far as I'm aware, this facility wasn't available on the BBC Radio 3 Messageboards, so people were posting similar messages under different categories on different threads.

Hello - I've just climbed on board from the lifeboat. I was not a massive poster on the R3 board - just dropped the odd two penn'orth onto Platform 3 and Jazz. I think that FF and Co have done a tremendous job with this board, and I wish it every success.
I'll just have a mooch around now if that's OK.

No, but we oldies do know that smittims used to post under his own name until he decided to respect his own privacy. So, I don't know what he might have said, hinted, allowed to go uncontradicted or anything else. He might have admitted to a palindromic element, but beyond that, it's guesswork unless you were there at the beginning of the world...
