Five red stars for both performance and recording.
I shall give it a virtual spin in the Naxos Library.
Is it on your Xmas list ?
Haven't got my cats anything for Xmas yet , I wonder if they would like it? Bound to.........
You can just imagine the look of joy on their little furry faces.......I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Very clearly orchestrated with some memorable ideas but lacks cohesion, especially in the finale. Very demanding technically though.Don’t cry for me

Agree with suffy's comment in comparison to the cello and piano concertos.

Elgar: Introduction and Allegro for Strings op. 47
Vaughan Williams: Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis
Britten: Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge op. 10
LSO String Ensemble / Roman Simovic (Available on the LSO Live label)
This conductor is new to me, but I'll be making a note of the name after hearing this glorious recording. Each work is full of detail that has never registered before, and all this newness is carried off utterly convincingly. Add to the interpretive treasures a recording of ideal clarity and we're talking about something really special here. I've listened to it three times on the trot on Qobuz streaming and now it's definitely time to click the Buy button and add the high-resolution download to my collection.Last edited by DublinJimbo; 22-11-16, 17:13.

And St Cecilia's Day. it has to be done though. Handel's Ode on St Cecilia's Day. Trevor Pinnock's recording.
With thanks to ER, I am now listening to:-
