    Hello anton
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I would still have been looking for a ticket collector in the ancestors of Lorna Dallas if mercs had not returned, as if by magic. If he wishes to submit an entry then fine ..... but he was sometimes not that keen ..... whatever it's a joy to have you back dear legend .....

Oh excellent mercs - if I hadn't been sent on a weeding marathon I would be right on it ......

You are, as ever, correct ..... Lady Gould far from happy .......

I didn't search the archive, but I did discover that
Eva von der Osten was Octavian in the premiere of Der Rosenkavalier
                      and
Eva Jessye was the choral director for the premiere of Porgy and Bess.
Given that I knew that Eva Turner was one The (original) Sixteen (the soloists in RVW's Serenade to Music), I'm plumping for Eva as the answer you are looking for!

well done, no further elaboration needed I think, so I guess its over to you now for another question, as and when

A straightforward one to keep the momentum going (and because I've got house guests coming tomorrow so won't have much time to monitor responses):

An F who is associated with joy, rapture, and a sacrifice.

                              Nope!
I had to look that up, but assume you are still Doncaster oriented:
Finningley is a village and civil parish within the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, in South Yorkshire, England.

PS: Person not place (who not that!)

"Sacrifice" placed last suggests that it is Full and Final leading to Finzi.
