Gosh, is it me or does he look like Carson in Downton Abbey?

Which 'H' features in works by (among others) Heinrich Schütz, Gustav Mahler and Karl-Heinz Stockhausen?
(Although the answer begins with the same letter in English - and has the same number of letters - I'd prefer the German original).

I imagine there could be multiple workable answers but I plump for:

Himmel? (Heaven satisfies the parenthetical requirement)

HS: SWV 108 — Ach Gott, von Himmel sieh darein (Psalm 12)

GM: "Ich leb' allein in meinem Himmel, in meinem Lieben" from the Ruckert Lied "Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen"

K-HS: Am Himmel wandre ich ("In the Sky I Am Walking", American Indian Songs),
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

An open-neck aertex shirt, as I recall.

Will be off line for an hour or so now: only of interest in the event that my H should be correct...

Edit: made it home on the velocipede through hell and high water (and high wind) bellowing a fair few ancient curse-words...

Well, when you return, perhaps you could treat us to an 'I'. The Stockhausen was what you might call the left-field element of the three. My Mahler was 'Je lieber moecht' ich im Himmel sein' from the 2md symphony and my Schuetz 'Die Himmel erzaehlen die Ehre Gottes'. (For some reason I can't do umlauts in quick replies).

How are you going to celebrate?

                      An I then, to connect:

                      - The founder of "Ariadne Inc"

                      - Fay beginnings notwithstanding, an outfit that's one of the Big Five of its kind

                      - A soloist who flew home in his teens and carried on into his 80s

Chicago Symphony Orchestra (one of the "Big Five") founded by Norman Fay
Ariadne Inc is a registered Computer Graphics company in Illinois.

The "soloist" has stumped me: I was thinking of Lindbergh, but no connection with Illinois that I can find.

                              Illinois is RIGHT, fhb

                              Yes to the CSO

The "Ariadne Inc" reference surprised me: you're right but for the wrong reason. My "Ariadne Inc" reference is musical. Find someone relevant who performed the part.

And the "soloist" - well your post 11592 gives half his name

PS If you can't be ar$*d at this late hour, and would like to fire in a J before bed, I can tell you if you like

                                pardon my interruption
according to wikipedia, Deborah Voigt (from Wheeling, Illinois) refers to her career as Ariadne Inc.
